Reverse Bites / Underbites

A reverse bite or underbite is bottom front teeth in front of the upper teeth. Severity can vary between a mild underbite, where the front teeth almost meet to significant gap of ½ inch or more.

Diagnosis and treatment at an early age are important if one wants to minimize or eliminate the future need for jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery). Dr. Shpuntoff has been successful correcting this problem without surgery in children.

Many adults can have their reverse or underbites corrected without surgery.

When orthognathic jaw surgery is the recommended treatment, Dr. Shpuntoff has teamed up with many Maxillofacial surgeons.
